Got my kayak a few years ago and I'm just starting to rig it for lake fishing for stripers. So far I've mounted the depth finder and added a trolley system for an anchor or sock. I'm leaning toward getting a drift sock for lake Lanier, suggestions? I have no experience fishing lake Lanier for stripers, I moved here from Ohio in 2014. I made a pvc transducer mount to put off the side of my kayak. I wanted to do as least invasive mount first u till I figure out a more permanent solution. Will post pictures after the paint dries. Also, any suggestions on batteries? Thinking of mounting a waterproof box behind my seat for the battery, hoping to use a motorcycle battery. Any tips or suggestions would help! I'm located near the southern part of lake Lanier.
I agree with Klag...if you are fishing in an area that you need a drift anchor you are in an area that's too windy for fishing in a yak. The anchor works good for me in shallow coves if you find a honey hole filled with crappie. I have found batteries made for game feeders that are 7.2amp at academy sports and Walmart for $20-$25.
